Accoya is a New Zealand Radiata Pine which goes through an acetylation process producing a timber that has a performance second to none. Accoya has a performance classification better than most hardwoods along with a longevity that exceeds nearly all other timbers. This is an extremely high performance timber that is suitable for all extreme locations.
Accoya is partly inconsistent in colour due to the acetylation process but the timbers will naturally weather down over a period of time to a silver grey colour. Paints and opaque wood stains can be applied for a more pristine appearance although this is for cosmetic purposes only.
All fixings and fixtures with Acoya softwood must be stainless steel, as other materials will react with the acetylation and cause staining through the timber.
All gate posts supplied in Accoya are smaller timbers that are laminated together as the acetylation process is restricted in its ability to penetrate large timber sections; however the laminating procedure makes for extremely stable sections indeed.
All Accoya timber carries an FSC certification upon request as this is produced from sustainable sources.
